The Detroit Training Institute of Technology (DTIT) is a Green Building trades school that was established in 2006. Our mission is to prepare unemployed and dislocated workers to meet the growing demand for skilled trade workers in the construction industry.

Our primary goal is to combine state of the art classroom training with hands on learning experiences that prepare students for in demand occupations in the building trades.

Our curriculum includes certificate programs in Building Maintenace with Custodial Services, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical Wiring Residential, Heating & Cooling (HVAC) and Green Building Construction.

Traditionally individuals interested in these areas would have to learn about building trades strictly thru lengthy four year apprenticeship programs or on the job training. We combine building trades textbook theory with the hands on experience employers are looking for to get students working in a fraction of the time.

All courses are taught by successful contractors who have years of professional experience working in these trades. We only employ skilled trades professionals that not only know their craft, but are patient and able to teach and convey concepts in a way that students can easily understand.

Because the classrooms and job sites are the students work enviornment, they will continually be developing the knowledge and self-confidence they will need to effectively compete for a variety of career options the construction industry can provide.

As the nation and global community focuses on going green and building sustainability, the DTIT has embraced Green Construction Technology. Our curriculum is constantly expanding to meet the new demands of greener and environmentally friendly construction practices.
